A New Look

Mom's cafe reopened on February 16th with a fresh look and widened food choices.
The reconstruction of the dining area was paid for by University funds, while the added grill was paid for by Chartwells. The cafe now offers well over one hundred seats and a much more open atmosphere.
There are six televisions grouped in twos throughout the cafe, displaying music videos that can be selected by the students. All a student would need to do is text to the number listed on the screen and the videos get put into a queue.
The audio within the cafe has sensors throughout that allow the system to raise and lower the volume of the music based on the noise volume within the cafe. The system is managed by the company Akoo, and is a free service due to advertisements on the television screens.
"I feel like it wasn't truly necessary," Nick Hernandez said, "but I think the changes were beneficial."
"I feel like it was unnecessary and a waste of time and money," Abel Abrego said, adding, "I like it, but it didn't have to be done."
"Considering it was paid for by the university, I do not see that it was prudent to spend funds on an optional improvement," Blake Fair said. "In these rough financial times, I do not see it as a necessary improvement, there are more important things we should be focusing on."
"I liked the feel of the old one." Rory Lydon said, "and it's annoying that the lights flicker."
