California State University, Stanislaus Students protested in front of President Hamid Shirvani's house this past Saturday, complaining that their voices weren't being heard.

"That's the length we had to go to just to be heard," CSUS student Nikki Boudreau said. Boudreau, an art student and presidential scholar, argues that it is the only way to get press coverage.

Despite not being able to speak with Shirvani, protesters believe they achieved their objective, which was to obtain media coverage and bring to light the struggles students are having with the current administration.

"In the media, we've been portrayed as not really knowing what's going on," Boudreau noted.

More than 40 protesters stood outside Shirvani's house for about an hour, chanting, "fewer classes, higher fees, the CSU is run by thieves."

The protest was organized by CenCal, a group of organizers from Northern California, with the goal of saving public education. The group consists of members from CSU Stanislaus, CSU Fresno, Merced College, community members, faculty and students.

Going forward, members of CenCal are hosting a protest on Wednesday December 9th in Quad at 11 a.m. Boudreau hopes to gather students, faculty and staff from various areas of the campus to speak about how the budget cuts have affected them.
