This past Thursday was a Thirsty Thursday, a day of alcohol awareness sponsored by our fellow Associated Students Incorporated student body and Turlock California Highway Patrol.
This informational event included entertaining activities, from impaired driving go-carts and drunk vision goggles to many helpful pamphlets spurring out facts about drinking.
This affair successfully provided necessary information addressing the increasing problem of alcohol abuse. As indicated by NCADD, nearly 17,000 Americans are killed and more then 500,000 are injured each year in alcohol-related traffic crashes costing us an amount of more than $50 billion dollars.
Several students said they were shocked to see the indisputable evidence pointing towards the direct abuse and mishandling of alcohol by peers their own age. The event was a great eye-opener for many and just another fun day in the quad for some.
