It is that time of the year again and Associated Students Inc. Senate positions are opening up for the upcoming 2008 school year.
All current officers must run again for their position if they wish to return. ASI senate positions are open to any California State University, Stanislaus undergraduate, graduate or post baccalaureate students with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
"I think people should join ASI Senate because it's a great way to get involved with the school and help change your college experience for the better," said Jackie Lepage, an ASI desk manager.
Those who are interested should visit the ASI office located upstairs in the Student Union. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. A lecture packet filled with information about running for a Senate position is available at the front desk.
The packet contains information about deadlines and dates, what is required to run, the elections code of rules and requirements, posting guidelines for posters and job descriptions for all senate positions. The packet is due by 5 p.m. April 2.
Senate positions are not paid but executive senate positions receive a stipend. There are four executive senate positions: president, vice president, treasurer and vice president external; there are 12 Senate positions.
