Friday night movies grant good times and free food

Hotdogs, cotton candy, and popcorn were the order of the day on Friday the seventeenth. Students crowded in blankets and pajamas to watch "Wanted" in the Carol Burk lounge. The atmosphere was playful and informal, since the scheduled movie didn't have any sound for the first forty five minutes Instead students cheered and laughed, inventing their own dialog to fill the void.

Choir seeks trip funds

Anxiety seminar held in MSR to help students de-stress in today's hectic world

The Understanding and Managing Anxiety workshop was on Wednesday October 15 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Mary Stuart Rogers Building room 200 on the Turlock campus of California State University, Stanislaus. The workshop which was facilitated by Carey Cogan Bailey, a psychological counselor, discussed what it means to have anxiety and how the body reacts to it.

"Java Jams" jettisoned from UPB fall activities

The Union Program Board will not host any Java Jams shows this semester. Students may not have noticed this, but the program was cancelled due to an apparent lack of interest. Java Jams was set up for students who play in bands or enjoy performing. Last year, anyone could sign up and be paid a minimal fee of about $50.

City council canidates debate local issues prior to election day vote

There was standing room only as students packed the first floor conference room in MSR to watch Turlock City Council candidates debate current issues in an open forum on Thursday, October 16. During the forum (co-sponsored by the Turlock Journal and the CSU Stanislaus department of Politics and Public Administration) four of the five candidates answered questions posed by Kristina Hacker, editor of The Turlock Journal.
